Compared two ways to organize my pantry last weekend and one was a disaster

I tried the clear bin method where you dump everything into bins without labels. Total fail within 3 days, I had no idea where the pasta was versus the rice. Then I switched to using a label maker and putting everything in its own spot with dates on the cans. It took me 2 hours on Sunday but now I can grab anything in 5 seconds flat. My partner even found the baking soda without asking me where it was. Has anyone else tried those fancy shelf risers and found they actually work for canned goods?

Holding off on the clear bin thing honestly, that sounds like a total nightmare. I started using the shelf risers for my cans and honestly they're a game changer, lets me see what's in the back row without having to dig through everything.

Hmm, aren't shelf risers basically just clear bins but with extra steps?

Ain't that like saying a level is just a straight board with extra steps?

lucasw84 gets it. Ngl, that comparison is just flat out wrong. A level tells you if something is straight, a shelf riser actually changes how you use a shelf. It's like saying a ladder is just a long board with extra steps, technically true but misses the whole point. I've been using them in my pantry for a few months now and it's night and day compared to digging through a pile of cans. You actually see what you have instead of buying duplicates all the time. People who haven't tried them just don't get the difference it makes.
