DAE feel like old school question asking taught you more?

Back then, you had to really search or ask someone face to face to get an answer. Now, just typing here gives you quick fixes that don't stick in your brain. Are we trading deep learning for instant help?

Totally, digging through library stacks made facts stick way better than a quick Google.

Heard a podcast say that the hunt for answers used to build better mental maps... When you dig through books or ask around, you connect ideas in your head. Getting an instant answer online just gives you the destination without the journey.

That part about the "destination without the journey" really sticks with me, @henry_murray, but I see it the other way. For me, getting a quick answer online is like getting a map right away instead of wandering lost. It gives me a starting point to then go deeper if I want, but I don't have to waste hours just finding the right road. The journey can start once I know what I'm actually looking for.

But that "journey" you mention can just be wasted time. Quick answers let me move on to actually using the info in real projects.
