Got stuck in a five minute loop with a guy at the hardware store who kept explaining the same drill bit to me
I was at Ace Hardware on Broadway last Tuesday just trying to grab a 3/8 inch bit and this older guy cornered me for what felt like an hour. He kept repeating 'you gotta pre-drill, son' over and over even after I said I knew. Has anyone else had a random stranger just refuse to stop talking?

Oh man that's the worst... happened to me at Lowes last month with a guy and caulk guns.

Yes the caulk gun guy at Lowes is a CLASSIC. I used to think I was immune to this stuff because I always go in with my earbuds in and a mission. But you know what changed my mind? Last month at Home Depot a man cornered me near the weather stripping and explained for fifteen minutes why foam tape is better than rubber for my specific door gap. I had no intention of buying either thing but I stood there nodding and now I have two rolls of foam tape in my garage I'll never use. It's like they have a SIXTH SENSE for targeting people who are just trying to grab one item.

Ace Hardware is always where it happens. I was in there last spring trying to buy a new garden hose nozzle and this retired plumber spent twenty minutes telling me about his grandson's baseball team. I just stood there holding the nozzle nodding while he described every single game from the season. Finally I just put the nozzle back on the hook and walked out. Still haven't bought one.
