The $12 funnel cake line at the Erie County Fair made me rethink how I pick what to try
Three summers back I stood in a 45 minute line at the Erie County Fair for a funnel cake I'd seen all over social media, and it was fine at best. Since that day I've made a rule for myself: if I can't get a straight answer from a local about whether something is worth it, I skip it. Last month I passed on a two hour wait for a barbecue spot in Buffalo because the guy running the ticket booth said he'd never eaten there. So here's my question for this group: when you're trying something new, do you trust the hype or the locals?
