TIL a dog can be left alone 8 hours and be totally fine, contrary to what every blog says
Every article I read before getting my rescue dog Milo in March said anything past 4 hours alone causes lasting damage, but my vet in Portland laughed and said most healthy adult dogs sleep 12 to 14 hours a day anyway. I tested it slowly, built up from 2 hours to 8 over 6 weeks, and he just naps on the couch the whole time with zero accidents or chewed furniture. Is the 4 hour rule actually based on anything, or did we all just repeat it because it sounds safe?
