A shared view of Jupiter through my lens broke the ice with the new family on the block

Last Tuesday, I had my camera set up for Jupiter when the new neighbors walked by. I waved them over, and they were shy at first. Showing them the live view on my screen shifted things. Their kids pointed at the moons and got really excited. We ended up chatting about the solar system for a good twenty minutes. It hit me that astronomy photos are not just cool shots. They can bring folks together who might not talk otherwise. Now I try to share my images more, and it often leads to nice chats.

Know what? My friend saw a meteor, now he stares at stars nightly.

My small talk fails, but Jupiter always works.
