Drove 3 hours to a dark sky site in Utah and the guy parked next to me ran his laptop screen full brightness all night
Went out to a spot near Torrey, Utah two weekends back for the new moon, drove 3 hours each way, and I was set up by 9pm. Around 10:30 this guy pulls up two spots over and his laptop screen is lighting up the whole row of scopes, plus he's got a red headlamp he keeps clicking on and off. I said something polite and he told me he needs the screen to run his mount and that red light rules are for visual observers, not imagers. Half of me thinks he's got a point about gear needing a screen, and the other half thinks a $15 sheet of red film would solve it. Am I wrong for being annoyed, or should the site just have separate rows for imagers and visual guys?

Waited three hours of driving just to have some guy light up the whole field like a parking lot? And then he clicks a red headlamp on and off on top of it? That would send me over the edge. The red film thing kills me too, it's like fifteen bucks and takes two minutes to cut to size. Saying red light rules are only for visual observers is wild, the whole point is keeping your eyes adjusted so everyone can actually see something. Sounds like he just doesn't want to be bothered.
