Hot take: That 'Andromeda through a telescope' photo everyone loves is staged and here's why
I keep seeing people post those super zoomed-in Andromeda shots claiming they're single exposures through an 8-inch scope, but there's no way because Andromeda is actually pretty small visually through most amateur gear. Am I missing something or are people just stacking 50 exposures and calling it a single shot to sound cool?

Wait can someone explain stacking to me like I'm five because honestly I got lost after 'ok so you take 50 photos' and just assumed y'all were wizards?

Did they cover HOW you line them up perfectly in software or do people just wing it in Photoshop? Because I've tried aligning star photos before and ended up with a blurry mess.

Oh I absolutely winged it with Photoshop for way too long, turned my stars into weird little smudges that looked like dirty lens flares haha. Learning about layers and auto-align is a total game changer but man did I waste a lot of nights first.
