Just realized my friend thinks all astronomy photos are fake

We were looking at my Andromeda shot from last fall and he said 'Cool CGI, but you can't actually see that, right?' in my own backyard. Has anyone else had to explain that these pictures are REAL captures?

My dad once asked if my Jupiter shot was from the Hubble, and I had to explain it was from my backyard with a $300 telescope and three hours of stacking. Honestly, maybe I should start watermarking my photos with 'yes this is real, no I didn't paint it' just to save time. At this point I'm wondering if I even saw the stars or if that was CGI too.

Ugh, that's brutal. My cousin thought my Milky Way photo was a screensaver. Had to show him the raw files and my busted tripod from that night to prove it. Some people just live in a different reality.

Oh man, I feel that. My aunt asked if my northern lights shot was a poster I bought. Had to explain I stood in a frozen field for three hours.

Tell them to look up next time. The sky's right there.
