My sister always changes the settings on my astro camera

I set up everything for a clear shot of the Orion Nebula. She tweaks the exposure because she thinks it looks brighter. Now my photos come out washed out half the time. Some say having another person involved adds fresh ideas. Others think it just ruins careful plans. Have you dealt with relatives messing with your gear? How do you handle it without starting a fight?

Wait, she changes the exposure on an astro cam? That's like someone adding water to a chemist's formulas because it looks fuller. Those settings are super specific for a reason. You gotta explain it's not a regular camera or you'll never get a clean shot.

Oh man, I feel your pain! I had a similar issue with a family member and my good tools. The best fix is to save your perfect settings as a custom mode on the camera if it has that feature, then lock the dial. That way she can't accidentally change it. Then maybe show her one of your good photos next to a washed out one and explain how the settings change the whole result. It turns a "stop touching my stuff" talk into a "let me show you how this works" moment.

Seriously though, is it that big of a deal if someone messes with your camera settings? It's just a family member borrowing something, not the end of the world.
