My town's festival lights are bleaching out the stars every night

They set up this massive light display for the summer festival right near my usual spotting area. My last few attempts to photograph the Pleiades cluster came out completely washed with sky glow. Why do local events have to clash with clear night skies anyway?

Why is bright lighting the go-to for every event now? Anthony's right, it's like they don't even think about people who want to see the stars. I've noticed even streetlights are getting brighter where I live.

Hate seeing the Pleiades get lost in all that light pollution.

Ugh, that's so annoying. It's wild how a short event can mess up the sky for weeks after.

Yeah, light pollution from events is the worst. Last year, our county fair put up these huge spotlights that lit up the whole valley. I tried to show my kids the Milky Way from our backyard, and it was just a gray haze. We ended up driving an hour out to the boonies just to see anything. The fair only lasted a week, but the sky was messed up for the whole month. They never consider how these things affect people who enjoy the night sky.
