Tried to snap a nebula photo from my backyard in Ohio last Tuesday
Spent 45 minutes setting up my telescope only to realize the lens cap was still on lol. Has anyone else ever done something this dumb mid-shoot?

Done the exact same thing. Just set everything up and wondered why it was so dark. @nelson.wren, that's rough about your buddy's case. Best advice is to triple check everything before you head outside.

Laughing at how much that sucks but also cringing because I've been there. You think you're all set and then nature just hits you with a reality check. Did he at least find the lens cap floating inside like a little drowned treasure? That's the kind of mistake you only make once, right? Well, maybe twice if you're really stubborn. Hopefully the case had some padding that absorbed most of the water before it ruined everything.
