Went back to a photo I took from my backyard 3 years ago and noticed something I totally missed
I was looking through old files last month and found this shot of the Orion Nebula I took from my driveway in Phoenix. At the time I thought it was just okay, but zooming in now I can see a faint little arc of gas I never caught before. It's not much, but it made me wonder how many other hidden details are sitting in our old photos. Has anyone else found surprises in their old astro shots?

Happened to me with a moon shot from like 2 years ago!" - yeah I had that same feeling with a Mars photo I took during the 2020 opposition. I was just messing around with my telescope, but later I could swear I saw a tiny white fleck near the pole that might have been a cloud. Or maybe just a dust speck on the lens. Now I gotta go check my whole archive like a detective.

Funny you mention old photos hiding details. I was digging through my phone last year and found a shot of a sunset I took in 2018. Thought it was just a nice orange sky, but when I zoomed in on the edges there was this weird little green streak near the horizon. I spent a good hour trying to figure out if it was aurora or just some weird lens flare from a passing car. Still can't tell honestly but it changed how I looked at that whole batch of pictures.
