Celebrated 20 years in our Decatur bungalow, never expected that number
Moved in back in 2005 when the street was mostly rentals and one overgrown lot. Hit 20 years here this month, which surprised me more than I thought it would. Walked the property line with my old survey map and counted 14 different repairs we've done, from the 2013 roof to that weird sump pump saga in 2019. Has anyone else stayed in one house long enough to see the whole block flip twice? That changes how you think about maintenance budgets.

That "whole block flip twice" line hit me hard, we're at 18 years and just watched our third set of neighbors tear out a perfectly good kitchen. Best thing we did was stop chasing trends and just fix things the old way, that sump pump saga taught us to buy the boring reliable stuff.
