I finally understand why my neighbor's house sold in 3 days

I was talking to my realtor friend last week and she mentioned that staging isn't just for rich people. She told me about a house in Decatur that sat on the market for 6 months, then the owner spent $800 on a staging service and it was under contract in 3 days. Made me wonder how many of us are leaving money on the table by not even trying to make our homes look their best. Has anyone else seen a big difference after staging their place?

My uncle's house staged with fake flowers and fancy towels still sat for four months.

Does your uncle have KILLER photos of the place online or just basic ones? @lucasw84 It's wild how even PERFECT staging can't save a house if the listing photos are dark or blurry. People scroll past fast.

I get what you're saying but $800 on staging is dirt cheap, most places around here start at $1500 or more. That Decatur story sounds like an outlier or the owner got a steal on a friend's rate. Your uncle's house proves my point though - fake flowers and fancy towels don't cut it. Real staging means renting actual furniture and art that fits the space, not just throwing some decor on the counter. I've seen houses with ok photos and decent staging sit for weeks while ones with professional stagers who brought in couches and beds sold fast. The difference isn't just staging itself, it's doing it right with someone who knows what they're doing.
