My $4,200 HVAC guy in Marietta said skip the yearly tune up, and I think he's right
Everyone in this sub swears by the spring AC check, but mine ran 11 years fine with zero service calls until the compressor finally quit last month. Anybody else skipping the tune up and just saving the $150 a year for the eventual replacement?

Noticed this same thing with my water heater. Plumber told me flushing it every year was a waste and mine lasted 14 years before it went. Meanwhile my neighbor paid for the yearly flush and his died at year 9. Sometimes the maintenance is just a way to keep the service guy in business. I've started asking whether a thing actually needs upkeep or if someone just wants my money every spring.
