My neighbor's 1998 water heater made me rethink my whole 'replace it early' plan
Talked to the guy next door in Decatur last weekend, still running his original 26 year old tank. He said he just drains it every spring and has never had a leak. It made me wonder if I'm flushing $1,300 down the drain replacing stuff on a schedule instead of waiting for actual signs. Anyone else got an ancient appliance that just won't quit?

Ha, that's a classic. I read somewhere that most tank failures happen in the first couple years or after the anode rod gives out, so a well-maintained one can just keep going forever.

My parents had a fridge run 30 years, we just cleaned the coils once a year and never touched it otherwise.
