Overheard a neighbor say their HOA fine was 'the cost of doing business'

This guy down the street in Decatur just casually dropped $200 on a fine for a rusty mailbox instead of fixing it... made me wonder how many people treat fines like a subscription fee. Has anyone else seen folks in your neighborhood just paying penalties instead of following the rules?

So you think everyone should have to fix their stupid mailbox just because some HOA board member decided it's an eyesore on a Tuesday?

Yeah, I get where you're coming from @the_eric, but in my experience the HOA had a point in my old neighborhood. A neighbor's broken mailbox kept falling into the street and actually caused someone to swerve and hit a parked car. Not saying every cracked mailbox is a disaster, but sometimes there's more to it than just looks, your mileage may vary.
