Paid $2200 for a sewer scope and it saved my closing

Honestly, everyone I know said skip the sewer inspection, it's just a money grab from the inspector. I almost did too, but I spent the $2200 on a full camera scope plus a hydrostatic test on a 1960s bungalow in Decatur. The camera found tree roots busting through the clay pipe right under the driveway, and the test showed water backing up into the crawlspace. Told the seller I needed either a fix or a credit, and they ended up knocking $8500 off the price. Ngl, that one check paid for itself like ten times over. Has anyone else had a last-minute inspection item that turned into a big bargaining chip, or do you think I just got lucky with a paranoid seller?
