Pro tip: wait times for electrical permits in Fulton County are no joke

I needed a permit for a simple panel upgrade at my house near Decatur. Thought it would take a week or two at most. Nope, it took SIX WEEKS to get approved. The lady at the counter basically shrugged and said that's normal now. If you're planning any electrical work this spring, get your application in WAY ahead of time. Has anyone else dealt with these crazy permit delays lately?

Read online they're losing inspectors to neighboring counties with better pay.

@abby_cooper yeah a friend waited 10 weeks for a simple rewire, told me same thing about inspectors leaving.

Six weeks actually sounds pretty fast for Fulton County right now. My neighbor waited almost four months for a permit on his new construction last fall, and he had everything filed perfectly. The county building department lost his application twice before they finally processed it. They told him they're down to like three electrical inspectors for the whole county. So yeah, planning ahead is good advice, but you might want to plan a whole season ahead instead of just a week or two.
