Diatomaceous earth vs. the gel bait on my kitchen roaches in Midtown
I read a bunch of old forum posts about both and decided to try the gel bait first, and honestly it did nothing after two weeks in my apartment off Monroe Drive. A neighbor told me to try diatomaceous earth along the baseboards instead, and the roaches were mostly gone in about 10 days. The powder keeps working as long as it stays dry, which the bait never did near my sink. Anyone else had luck with one over the other in an older building like this?
How long did the bait sit before you gave up on it, and did you put it close to where the roaches were actually moving? I ask because in my place they ignored the bait in the usual spots and only took it when I stuck little dabs right in the cracks behind the outlet covers and along the pipe where the sink comes through. Also, was the powder you used the fine kind that hangs in the air, or the chunkier stuff? The fine dust worked way better for me in a damp kitchen, but it does leave a white film on everything. Did you deal with that at all?
