PSA: granular bait beat my spray bottle on fire ants out by the shed

I've been fighting the mound behind my shed in Marietta for three summers with a spray jug and they just moved six inches over every time. Tried the $18 granular bait two weeks ago, sprinkled it around the mound at dusk, and the whole thing is dead flat now. Has anyone had luck keeping them gone once fall comes?
