PSA: those ultrasonic plug-in things do nothing for roaches, and I know because my Kirkwood neighbor swore by hers for 2 years
Watched my neighbor on our street fight german roaches with two of those plug-in gizmos for almost two years, and when she finally called a guy out he pulled 40 plus roaches out from behind her fridge in ten minutes. Back when I was a kid in the 90s, my dad just used boric acid powder and a flashlight and that was that, no gadgets. The thing people keep getting wrong is thinking roaches care about sound or vibration, they follow food and water and warm gaps, plain and simple. If the plug-ins worked, nobody in Atlanta would still have roaches in their kitchen. What finally worked at my place was gel bait in the cabinet hinges, so has anyone here had luck with those plug-in things or is it just me?
Read somewhere that the ultrasonic ones only annoy roaches for like a day before they just get used to it, since they don't even hear most of those frequencies anyway. Boric acid and gel bait are the real MVPs here, gadgets are a waste of an outlet.
Two years of plugging in those things and the roaches were probably throwing parties back there, using the buzz as background music while they multiplied. Forty roaches behind one fridge is wild, that poor guy probably needed a trash bag and a strong drink after that pull. Funny how a ten dollar box of boric acid from back in the day does more than a gadget that costs twenty bucks and just eats your electric bill. Pat's right too, bugs don't hear half that stuff anyway, they just shrug it off and go find the crumbs. Gel bait in the hinges is the move, that's what actually got mine under control too.
