Serious question, why does everyone around here spray their yard for mosquitoes instead of just dumping the standing water?
I used to be the guy out there with the fogger every Saturday, burning through $60 of spray concentrate a season, and the mosquitoes always came back by Wednesday anyway. Then my neighbor Mr. Pruitt over in Grant Park pointed at the old birdbath in my side yard and asked when I'd last emptied it. Turned out I had a clogged gutter downspout holding water behind the fence, and once I fixed that and flipped the birdbath every few days, my backyard went from swarming to almost nothing. Spraying kills the ones flying around, but it doesn't do a thing about the ones hatching in your own yard two days later. So is there some reason folks keep buying the fogger juice, or are we all just too lazy to walk the yard after it rains? Would love to hear if anyone else ditched the spray and had it actually stick.
