Been watching people argue over heated vs unheated garage for tool storage and I'm stuck

Found a post from an engineer saying temp swings below 50 cause micrometer drift, but a mechanic with 30 years says he's never had an issue. Which side feels right to you based on your own gear?

A beer fridge at 50 degrees? That thing must be broken, not the temp.

50 degrees and my beer fridge acts weird too, so maybe the engineer is onto something.
