Blew a head gasket on my '04 Forester last week, then found a trick online that saved my engine

I was getting white smoke and overheating bad, figured I needed a full rebuild which would have cost me $2000 minimum. Someone in a Subaru forum said to try a bottle of K-Seal in the coolant first as a temporary fix. Has anyone else used a chemical sealer long term or is this just buying time before the real repair?

K Seal is just a band-aid. You'll still need that head gasket eventually.

What about the chance that the sealer clogs your heater core instead? Happened to my buddy's Outback after he used a different brand. @the_robin is right about it being a band-aid, but sometimes a band-aid buys you months to save up cash. Just watch your temp gauge like a hawk and keep extra coolant in the trunk. I'd run K-Seal in that car for a while but start planning the real fix.
