Question about the torque wrench click test I saw on YouTube
I used to think the click test on a torque wrench was just something people did to look cool on camera. Then a buddy who works at a tire shop in Reno showed me his wrench was off by 15 pounds and he had been using it on wheels for 8 months. That is enough to warp a rotor or worse, lose a lug nut on the highway. I always figured if it clicked, it was fine, but the click just means the spring inside hit its set point, not that the setting is right. He grabbed a beam style wrench and showed me how far off the clicker was, and I felt dumb for never checking. Now I test mine every oil change with a cheap beam wrench I got for 20 bucks. Has anyone else had a wrench go bad without any warning?
