Ran my tires at 45 psi for two winters before a guy at the air pump in Reno asked me one question
I always filled my tires to whatever the sidewall number was, thinking that was the max so it had to be good. 45 psi, done, every couple weeks at the gas station near my place off Wells Ave in Reno. Then in January a guy at the next pump watched me do it and asked if I'd ever looked at the sticker inside my driver door jamb. I said the sticker was just for the factory tires and I'd swapped mine out. He just laughed and said the door card is about the truck, not the rubber. Went home, looked it up, and my truck actually wants 32 front and 35 rear. I'd been running 10 psi over for close to two winters. Pumped them down that night and the next morning the ride was so much softer I almost thought something was broken. My wear bars were also cupped way worse in the middle of the tread, which now makes total sense. Anybody else get fooled by the sidewall number, or was it just me being stubborn?
