Shoutout to digital tire gauges after years of swearing by analog

I always thought analog gauges were more reliable because no batteries to die on you, but after a road trip last month my old stick gauge kept giving me readings that were 5 psi off. Borrowed a friend's digital Accutire gauge and it read spot on every single time, no guessing needed. Anyone else stick with old school tools longer than they should have?

Analog gauges have that satisfying retro feel but man they can be so inconsistent. My old pencil gauge showed 32 psi on a tire that was actually 28 when I checked it with a digital one. That was enough of a difference to mess up my gas mileage for months. Now I keep a little digital gauge in my glovebox and never look back. Batteries are cheap and last forever anyway since you barely use the thing. Way less hassle than wondering if the stick is sticking or not.

Wait, are you saying a little battery is more reliable than a simple spring and a stick? (That feels backwards to me, honestly.) I've had digital gauges die on me at the worst times, like right when I'm checking tire pressure before a long drive, and then I'm stuck with no reading at all. Plus, those cheapo digital ones can be just as off as a pencil gauge if you drop them once, and they're way easier to break than a solid metal stick. I'd rather know my analog gauge is a little off (and learn its quirks) than trust a battery that could quit without warning.
