The transmission shop on Route 9 gave me a quote that made me laugh out loud

Guy quoted me $4,200 to rebuild the 4L60E in my '02 Silverado and said it would take two weeks. I've done three of these myself in a weekend for under $800 in parts, how do these places stay in business?

Bet that quote includes the "lifetime warranty" they'll never honor.

Fine print has become an art form in itself. Companies load up promises to get the sale then hide behind vague language when you actually need help. Over time you learn that "lifetime" usually means the product's short lifespan, not yours.

Remember that "lifetime warranty" on a vacuum cleaner I bought. @green.iris nailed it. Motor died after 14 months. Company said the warranty covered the brush roller, not the motor. They called it a "wear item.
