A dispatcher in Dallas told me to skip the broker and deal with the carrier direct, saved me $310
Back in March I needed to move my brother's F-150 from Dallas to Phoenix and a dispatcher buddy said to cut out the broker and call the carrier yard direct. I figured he was just blowing smoke, but I got three quotes online first and the cheapest was around $1,150 with a $200 deposit down before anyone even confirmed a truck. Called a carrier in Mesquite instead, talked to the guy who actually runs the trucks, and locked it in at $840 with nothing due until pickup. The truck showed up a day early and the driver sent me a photo at the gate in Phoenix. Anyone else skip brokers like this, or did I just get lucky with that one yard?
