I tried a cheap CRM for my B2B clients and it backfired hard

Switched from Salesforce to a $15/month CRM for my small B2B consulting firm, thinking I'd save cash. After 3 weeks, I lost 4 leads because the follow-up reminders kept glitching and never sent. Learned that cutting costs on core tools can cost you way more in lost clients. Anyone else find that cheaper B2B services end up messing with your sales pipeline?

Maybe that cheap CRM was a mess but spending $15/month to test if you even need all the Salesforce bells and whistles before committing is a solid strategy. Sometimes you gotta burn a few leads to figure out exactly what your pipeline actually requires.

Oh, I don't know if losing a few leads is really worth just to test a CRM. I mean, that's real money walking out the door, not just some theoretical exercise. Sure, Salesforce costs a lot, but you can usually get a demo or a free trial that gives you a decent feel for it without paying a dime. Burning leads on purpose sounds like throwing gas on a fire just to see how hot it gets. In my experience, a messy cheap CRM can still teach you what you need, you just have to be patient with it. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather keep my leads and learn slowly.

Honestly, are you tracking which specific stages of the pipeline those burned leads were falling apart in? That's the real data you need, not just a lower cost.
