My intern sent a client proposal with cat memes in the attachments last Friday
So I'm checking over the final draft before the 2pm deadline, and I find these four cat pictures embedded in the appendix. The client is a serious manufacturing firm in Cleveland, not a pet supply store. I had to do a frantic recall email and blame it on a 'file transfer error.' Has anyone else had to deal with an intern's creative formatting choices backfiring?

My friend had a similar disaster when her intern sent a client a bunch of clipart of dancing fruit in the financial report. She had to send a frantic follow-up saying the file got corrupted and to ignore the "test graphics." Honestly, a panic recall email is like a rite of passage for managing interns, youre not alone in this.

Always have a "no unsupervised client-facing documents" rule for the first month or two, that's the real lesson here. What I do is set up a shared template with locked sections so they can't sneak in any surprises without me noticing first. Calling it a technical glitch saves face but a dedicated review process with a checklist saves your weekend (and your client's trust).
