Outsourced accounting firm missed $14k in deductions, in-house caught it in a day
We hired a big regional firm for our B2B bookkeeping last year, thought we were saving money. Paid them $1,800 a month for six months. When our CFO left, I pulled the records myself and found they never classified our software subscriptions as R&D expenses. That alone was worth $14,000 in missed deductions. We switched to a smaller local accountant, someone who actually visits our office. In one day she found three more errors they'd made. Has anyone else had a big-name vendor do worse work than a solo operator? I'd rather pay more per hour for someone who knows our actual operation.

Hard to know if the big firm just skimmed or if they never really looked at your business.
