Skeptical about that CRM my partner pushed on us - 6 months later I'm eating my words

Back in March my business partner Mike kept going on about this CRM called Close (the one with the built-in calling). I told him it was just another shiny tool we didn't need. We were using a Google Sheet and Gmail filters like savages (honestly it worked ok for 3 years). But he signed up for the trial anyway and I was mad about it. Fast forward to yesterday - I looked at our numbers and we've closed 22% more deals since April. The thing that changed my mind was the automated follow-up sequences. I used to forget to call people back after 2 days (my ADHD brain just drops stuff). Now the system nags me at exactly the right time. The phone recording feature also saved us on a $4k contract where a client claimed we never said something. Has anyone else had a tool they fought against that turned out to pay for itself?

Did you ever try to get Mike to pay for the first month since he was the one pushing it? I fought my own partner over a scheduling tool last year and felt like a fool when it actually solved the same problem you had with follow ups. Nothing worse than eating crow but at least the numbers shut us up for good.

Honestly Mike still jokes about it being 'his idea' even though I was the one tracking down leads and doing the actual migration. Tbh I did try to get him to split the first month but he argued we'd waste more time debating than just paying for it. Ngl he was right though because that tool is now the only reason I don't forget to follow up with half my clients.

Yeah the follow up nags are real. I fought my buddy on a similar tool for months and now I can't imagine going back to my old sticky note system.
