That one vendor who actually showed up early for a change

Had a SaaS provider call me 3 days before our renewal to walk through their new features instead of the usual last minute rush. It was a 15 minute call that saved me from switching to a competitor. Has anyone else had a vendor actually earn your loyalty like that?

Wait, isn't that just basic customer service they should be doing anyway?

Right, @young.michael, that's exactly what I was thinking too! It's just the bare minimum, and yet they're acting like they deserve a medal for it. I had a similar thing happen with my internet provider last month - they actually fixed a connection issue I'd been reporting for weeks and then sent me a survey asking how "exceptional" the service was. I mean, come on, you finally did your job after I called five times, that's not exceptional, that's just doing what you're supposed to do. It feels like companies have lowered the bar so much that basic stuff now counts as a win for them. And the worst part is they always try to spin it like they went above and beyond when they didn't even meet the basic expectations in the first place.

My internet company did the exact same thing last year. I had a spotty connection for three months, called four times, and then a tech finally showed up and tightened a loose cable outside my house. They sent me a survey calling it a "premium service experience" and I about lost it. Getting paid to fix something that should've been caught on the first visit isn't premium, it's just them catching up on their own mess.
