Update: I fired my best client last Tuesday and my books finally make sense
I run a two person bookkeeping shop and one client was eating 60% of my week for a flat $900 a month. Last Tuesday I sat down with their mess of 14 QuickBooks files and realized I had been saying yes to scope creep for 8 months because I was scared of losing the check. I finally added up the hours, 41 that month, and I was making about $4 an hour after my helper got paid. Sent the termination email that night and picked up two smaller shops within a week. How do you all handle pricing when a client keeps piling on work without a new contract?
