Warning: A simple chat with my old boss in Chicago made me see lead gen totally different

We were catching up last Tuesday and he said, 'We used to buy lists and cold call all day, now my best client came from a dumb meme I posted in a niche LinkedIn group.' It hit me that the whole 'professional only' vibe we pushed for years might be wrong. How many of you are actually getting real business from casual social stuff now?

Totally get this. My last three solid leads came from just talking about my dog's separation anxiety in a pet business owners group, not from any polished sales post. The formal stuff just gets scrolled past now. People want to see the person behind the logo, even if it's a bit messy. That old playbook feels completely broken.

My most polished post last month got two likes, and one was my mom. Meanwhile, a story about me accidentally locking myself out of my own webinar got three people asking for my calendar link. The algorithm definitely prefers my bloopers over my best slides. I’m starting to think my business account should just be a highlight reel of my minor fails.

That messy stuff might work for @hannah_wells but it could also make your brand look totally unprofessional.
