When a client demanded 48-hour turnaround, it forced a total cleanup of my workflow

Last month we had one of our biggest accounts threaten to leave unless we cut our reporting time from a week down to 48 hours. At first I thought it was unreasonable, but then I looked at how many steps we had that were pure habit. We were doing triple manual data entry and formatting reports by hand when our CRM could export everything. I spent one weekend redoing our process with automated templates and live dashboards, and honestly now the whole team is faster on every project. Has anyone else had a client basically force them into a better system? What did you cut out first?

We had the same thing happen with a big client last year, and cutting out the double checking everything by hand was the biggest win. Once we let the system do the boring parts, the 48 hour thing became almost easy, and now we use that setup for everyone.

Trusting the system for the grunt work is the real game changer, once you stop fighting it.
