Heads up on the north loop trail in the Sawtooths, washed out section near Alpine Lake

Last week, a slide took out about 50 yards of the path just past the second creek crossing, and the reroute markers are easy to miss in the fog. Anyone know if the forest service has posted an official update yet?

Totally believe it, that whole stretch is a mess after heavy rain. I slipped on loose gravel trying to follow the reroute last month and nearly went into the creek. The markers are just those little pink ribbons tied way too high on the branches. I hope they get a crew out there soon because it's a real hazard now.

Yeah I saw something about this on the local news site. They interviewed a ranger who said they know about it but are waiting on some kind of funding approval before they can send a proper crew. I mean idk how that works, but it sounds like the pink ribbons are all we're gonna get for a while. Maybe it's just me but that seems like asking for trouble if the fog rolls in.

Watched this happen on my local trails too. They put up a temporary fix with some flags and call it good, then a storm washes it out again next season. It feels like we're just slapping band-aids on everything now, from potholes in the street to these hiking paths. We keep doing the cheap, fast repair instead of the one that actually lasts. Makes you wonder where all the maintenance money really goes.
