Spent $80 on a pack liner that turned my hike into a soggy nightmare
I bought one of those fancy waterproof roll-top pack liners, not a dry bag but that thin nylon kind, and it failed halfway through the Appalachian Trail section in Virginia. Rained for two days straight and water seeped right through the seam, soaking my sleeping bag and dry clothes. Total waste of cash - should have just used a heavy-duty trash compactor bag for $3 like my buddy suggested. Has anyone else had cheap gear fail at the worst possible moment, or am I just unlucky?

Ugh, that really stings when you trust the fancy stuff and it lets you down.

Man, that's the thing with most "fancy" versions of everyday stuff. They just rebrand the same old thing with a higher price tag and hope nobody notices.

My buddy spent $60 on this fancy organic dry shampoo that's supposed to be like a powder wash or whatever. He sprayed it on before a date and his hair just looked kind of greasy and clumpy instead of clean. I mean he ended up having to hop in the shower again five minutes before he had to leave, so that was a waste.
