Switched from a hammock to a tent on the Superior Hiking Trail and I'm not going back
I did the whole 310 mile Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota over 21 nights and started with my hammock for the first 8 nights. Problem was the north shore section is all rock and birch, so I spent 40 minutes every evening hunting for two trees far enough apart, and twice I ended up on a slope so bad I slid into the foot end by 2am. Swapped to a trekking pole tent at the Two Harbors stop and my camp setup dropped to 6 minutes flat, even on bare granite. Anyone else bail on hammocks once the route stopped having good trees?
