Chose a submersible pump over an external one for my 300 gallon pond in Tucson, and cleaning the intake every 2 weeks is already wearing me thin
Went with submersible because I didn't want to run pipe through the liner for an external, but now I'm pulling the thing out twice a month to clear string algae off the intake, so has anyone made the switch the other way and regretted it?

Pulling it twice a month to clear string algae sounds like a real pain. I feel you on not wanting to cut the liner though, that part is scary. Tucson heat probably makes that algae go crazy too.
