Found out a shed can add way more value than I thought
I was reading a real estate blog from a guy in Austin and he said a basic shed can boost your property value by up to $15,000 if it's done right. That blew my mind because I figured it was just for storage. He said it's all about making it look like a permanent, finished structure, not just a metal box. Has anyone here actually seen their home value go up after building one?

My neighbor in Charlotte added a finished shed and his appraisal jumped $12k. It has to look like a tiny house, not a plastic bin.

My buddy put one up in his backyard in Denver last year. He went with a 10x12 shed on a concrete slab, put in a proper door and windows, and wired it for lights and a couple outlets. His realtor said it read as extra usable square footage even though it wasn't counted that way, and his appraisal came back $8k higher than before. He didn't go crazy with finishes, just painted it to match the house and added some basic shelving inside. That was enough to trick the appraiser into treating it like a detached studio or something.
