Hit 100 plastic totes in my backyard and had to take a hard look at my life

Ngl I was just trying to organize all my Christmas decorations and old camping gear but somehow ended up with 100 plastic totes stacked against my shed. My neighbor counted them when I was moving stuff around last Sunday and said it looked like a storage unit graveyard. Has anyone else realized they've gone way overboard with totes and had to figure out a system to cut back?

Labeling them made me face reality when I saw "Christmas lights 2017" and "random cords" on like 15 totes. I just told myself I had to toss anything I hadn't touched in two years.

Did you find any old chargers in there too, @grantw41?

Honestly, do you ever wonder if we're all just hoarding cords from stuff we don't even own anymore? My buddy Dan spent a whole weekend going through his garage and found a tote labeled "misc tech 2009." He opened it up and it was full of old phone chargers for phones that didn't exist anymore, like a Nokia charger and some weird flip phone cable. He said he pulled out a cord that went to a printer he sold in 2012 and just sat there staring at it for like five minutes. Ngl, he had to take a break after that because it was too real, but he ended up tossing every single cord he couldn't match to a device he still owned. Tbh, I think that two year rule is a solid system, especially when you label stuff because it forces you to face the mess head on.
