My neighbor Ralph said something about my tarp setup that I can't stop thinking about

So Ralph from two doors down came over Saturday while I was wrestling a tarp over my mower and he just watched me for a minute. Then he goes, "You know that bare dirt under there is why your stuff keeps getting rusty, right?" I stood there for like 10 seconds because I had honestly never once thought about the ground, I was only ever thinking about the rain coming from above. Put a $40 pallet base down under the mower and the tiller that afternoon and the underside of both was dry a full week later. Has anyone else had a neighbor point out something this obvious that you somehow never saw yourself?
