My old metal shed finally gave up after a heavy rain in April.
For years, I kept my garden tools and lawn mower in a basic metal shed from the hardware store. Last month, a big storm in our town filled it with water and rusted the bottom out completely. I just put up a small wooden shed with a sloped roof and a concrete pad underneath it. Has anyone else had to switch from metal to wood for wet weather?

Wait, your shed actually melted into the ground? That sounds almost too crazy to be true. I mean, I've seen metal rust out and turn to dust over time, but melting into the ground is a whole other level of failure. How wet does it have to get for a metal shed to just disappear like that?

Yeah, I was all about the metal shed for the cheap price. Thought wood was too much work. Then mine basically melted into the ground after a few wet winters. The wood one I built last year just sits there on its blocks, dry as a bone. That sloped roof and pad you did is the real fix. Total game changer. Won't go back.

Remember when everyone used those cheap plastic deck boxes for cushions? My neighbor had one that basically turned into a swamp after one season. It got all warped and the lid wouldn't close. He ended up building a little bench with a hinged top out of cedar. Looks way better and the cushions are actually dry. Makes you wonder why we bother with the flimsy stuff sometimes.
