My shed roof collapsed under a foot of snow last winter
It was a Tuesday in February, we got that huge storm. Woke up to a weird cracking sound. Went outside and the whole back corner of my 8x10 shed was just gone. Had all my lawn gear and my kid's bike in there. Water got in and ruined the mower engine. Took me three weekends and about $800 in materials to fix it right. Anyone else have a storage building fail because they didn't clear the snow off?

Did you try to shovel it off first? That much weight will crush anything not built right.

You said 'that much weight will crush anything not built right' and man... that reminds me of a buddy of mine up in Maine. He had this old shed out back, looked solid enough but it was pretty much just a wooden frame. We got a real wet heavy snow one year, like two feet of slushy stuff. He didn't think twice, just let it pile up. Well, the roof caved in right in the middle, sounded like a tree falling. Took him three weekends with a chainsaw to get the mess cleared. So yeah, you're not wrong about the weight thing.

Yeah, @andrewwilliams, I tried but the shovel broke too.

Sounds like you need a tank, @ward.anna.
