PSA: stop stacking your totes directly on the concrete slab
I pulled my winter gear out of the Rubbermaid totes in my shed on Sunday and the bottom two bins were soaked through, even though the lid was snapped shut tight. Turns out the concrete slab in my backyard sweats when the temp swings, and the water wicks right up into the plastic, so my kid's snow pants smelled like a wet basement. I lost about $80 worth of stuff I thought was sealed up fine for two winters. Slap them on a couple of 2x4s or a cheap pallet first. Anyone else deal with this or did I just get lucky for a while?
Was the slab itself wet when you pulled the bins or just the bins? I'm asking because I had the same thing happen but it turned out my shed roof was leaking right onto the stack, not the concrete. If it really is the slab sweating then I need to rethink how I store mine.
