Spent $260 on a resin shed kit that said '2 hour assembly' and it took me 3 weekends
Three weekends ago I finally caved and bought one of those resin sheds from the home store over in Grand Rapids so I could get my mower and gas cans out of the garage. The box said 2 hours for two people, but the panels didn't line up and I had to re-drill 6 holes just to get the door to shut. My neighbor Gary came over on weekend two and we got the roof on, then it rained and the whole floor filled up with water because the base wasn't level. I'm now out $40 in extra lumber and my back hurts, so does anyone here actually own one of these things long term and did yours survive a winter?
My brother in law put one of those up in Kalkaska back in 2019 and the floor thing you mentioned is exactly what killed his. He fixed it by building a frame out of 4x4s and leveling it with gravel first, then anchored the shed to that so the base couldnt shift. The rain getting in is usually the door seal, not the panels, and the fix there is a rubber strip along the bottom edge plus making sure the threshold sits above the frame. His has been through four Michigan winters now and the only real damage was the roof sagging a little from snow load, so he added a couple of brace boards across the top. If you dont level that base before winter hits you're gonna be back to a puddle every time it thaws. Get the lumber under it now while the ground is still soft enough to dig.
